We have a great opportunity for a Finance Manager to join our team within Strategic Land at our Brentwood office in Essex. Reporting to the Strategic Land Head of Finance, you will support the business unit in providing insightful financial and commercial analysis to ensure that the business can progress towards achieving its long-term objectives. The Finance Manager is responsible for all aspects of budgeting and forecasting including the annual budget process, the 5-year strategic plan and the short-term cashflow submissions. This is a broad finance role liaising closely with operational colleagues to ensure timely and accurate information is presented to the Strategic Land Board.
The Strategic Land team supports long-term land acquisition and promotion activity across the Group. The team works closely with regional business units and group planning colleagues.

Own the month‑end process for the Business Unit, including JV consolidation, variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and closure of the ledgers each month. Act as a commercial partner to the Head of Finance and Head of Strategic Land, providing financial insight and challenge to support decisions on options, planning, promotion, and disposals. Prepare the regional monthly management accounts and respond to ad‑hoc information requests from the Divisional Chair, Divisional FD, Head of Finance, and Head of Strategic Land. Lead the preparation of the annual budget, 5‑year strategic plan, and monthly forecasting for Strategic Land. Present short‑term cashflow forecasts to the Head of Finance, Head of Strategic Land and the Divisional FD. Support Half‑Year and Full‑Year external reporting requirements for both the Business Unit and Division. Build strong working relationships with Group Finance and External Auditors. Lead the Half‑Year and Full‑Year audit process, taking ownership of queries and delivering required audit schedules. Produce monthly Joint Venture reporting for internal stakeholders and JV partners. Prepare annual financial statements for Joint Ventures. Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data within COINS and Anaplan. Provide leadership, coaching, and development support to the finance team to ensure high‑quality outputs. Review site development appraisals and technical budgets, providing financial challenge where required. Support the Head of Finance in maintaining a strong financial control environment and in resolving technical accounting matters. Assist the Land team to appraise new business opportunities and divestment decisions. Review site development appraisals to ensure they reflect the latest delivery strategy and financial assumptions. Drive improvements to systems, processes, and reporting across the Business Unit. Deliver ad‑hoc project work and analysis to support key stakeholders.
