Department Led by Chief Financial Officer, Chris Skeet, the Central Finance department is a busy team comprising of 29 employees spilt into different teams: Transactions: handling client and office money. Revenue Control: time recording and billing. Management Information and Reporting: financial reporting and financial dashboards. Commercial Finance and Pricing: supporting legal teams in developing systems and best practice when pricing matters, budgeting for Practice groups & reforecasting. Procurement: advise on sourcing best practice, manage contracting, develop supplier relationships, and support management of supplier risk. Financial Systems: developing and maintaining financial systems. The department provides exceptional service levels and continuously looks to develop and enhance systems to ensure these services are delivered efficiently and innovatively The Role As a Financial Accountant at Travers Smith, you will play a key role within the Central Finance department. You will have primary responsibility for producing our statutory accounts and financial statements, liaising with our auditors and preparing our audit and tax files. Other duties will include management of VAT submissions. You will also partner closely with Business Services to produce monthly cost centre reporting, assist with budgeting and forecasting. You will ensure compliance with finance policies. The position requires strong technical accounting expertise, hands-on adaptability, and effective stakeholder collaboration, supporting both core financial functions and critical projects to drive efficiency and innovation in the firm's financial operations. Key Responsibilities Financial Accounting Production of the LLP consolidated statutory Financial Statements Preparation of reconciliations & supporting schedules Preparation of year end audit files Liaising with external auditors and tax advisers Ensure adherence to Finance Policies Assistance with preparing Tax Computations for the LLP Manage the preparation / submission of UK Vat returns Business Services Business Partnering Monthly costs centre reporting and regular update meetings with Business Services budget holders Preparation of overheads budget and assist with forecasting Other Responsibilities Process and policy documenting] Assisting with key projects as required Provide cover and assistance to the team as required, enabling the team to adapt to meet tight deadlines and often conflicting demands Key Stakeholders Chief Finance Officer and Financial Controller Management Information & Reporting Team Wider Central Finance Team, wider business services departments. Personal Specification - Experience, Knowledge & Skills Qualified ACA from practice, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent Strong Excel skills Strong Financial accounting standards and legislation IFRS SORP UK GAAP Flexible to adapt to changing circumstances with a hands-on attitude Adaptable and flexible: manage changing priorities and deadlines Methodical with excellent attention to detail and accuracy Strong communication skills with the ability to deal with colleagues across the firm Pro-active and demonstrable experience of using initiative A good team player with ability to work autonomously as required Minimum 2 years' experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment but not essential We are excited to have moved from our London headquarters in Snow Hill, to a brand-new building in the City - Stonecutter Court.
