Helping CXOs Develop their careers and teams Finance Director – Fashion & Lifestyle Group Location: London Competitive salary + Bonus + Benefits Our client, a globally recognised fashion and lifestyle business with strong heritage and international reach, is seeking an experienced and commercially sharp Finance Director to join its UK leadership team. This is a high-impact, strategic finance role at the heart of a design-led, multi-entity business operating across the UK and European markets. The Finance Director will be responsible for financial performance, control, and planning, while playing a key role in business decision-making and operational strategy. The Opportunity This is a hands-on leadership position for a proven finance professional who combines strong technical expertise with commercial insight. The role oversees the full finance function, including financial control, FP&A, treasury, compliance, and systems transformation. You will work closely with the CEO and senior management to shape financial strategy and support business growth. Key Responsibilities Strategic & Commercial Finance Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning process. Partner with functional leads to monitor financial KPIs, margins, and cost control. Produce board-level reporting, business performance reviews, and financial analysis. Support high-level decision-making with scenario planning and commercial insight. Working Capital, Treasury & Systems Monitor working capital and cash flow across all markets. Manage credit control, stock valuation, and banking relationships. Oversee trade finance, invoice discounting, and financial risk management. Drive systems improvement and finance transformation initiatives. Payroll, Tax & Regulatory Ensure payroll accuracy and alignment with HR. Oversee VAT, corporation tax, and statutory filings with internal and external advisors. Maintain compliance across jurisdictions and support audit readiness. Leadership & Business Partnering Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team. Act as a key business partner to the CEO and wider leadership team. Represent Finance in group-level projects, strategic initiatives, and process optimisation. Support investor and stakeholder reporting where relevant. Oversee the financial accounting cycle across multiple European entities. Ensure internal controls are robust and fully compliant with UK GAAP / IFRS. Ensure timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. Lead statutory reporting and liaise with external auditors. Oversee consolidations, reconciliations, and intercompany transactions. What We’re Looking For Proven experience as a Finance Director, Group Financial Controller, or similar role in a fast-moving, multi-entity business. Strong technical accounting background with international exposure. Experience in fashion, retail, lifestyle, or consumer goods is highly desirable. Confident working with senior stakeholders, external advisors, and auditors. Process-driven mindset with a hands-on approach to problem solving. Strong Excel skills and familiarity with systems such as Sage, SAP, or similar.
