Our client a large public sector organisation requires a Financial Performance Officer based in Antrim. Role: Financial Performance Officer Rate of Pay: £25.00ph Location: Antrim Hours: 37 hours Duration: Up to 6 Months Closing Date: 21st January 2026 Main duties/Responsibilities: To control the preparation of the Council's revenue and capital estimates to enable the Council to agree spending plans and strike the district rates. Responsible for ensuring accounting standards are adhered to through setting policies and procedures and providing financial guidance to all levels of management and to councillors. Responsible for the calculation of the financial impact of the capital programme on the rates and on the long-term financial strategy. Develop and Produce the Corporate Financial Plan in alignment with the strategic planning process and Councils corporate plan. Conduct financial planning and investment appraisal exercises to provide information to management for planning and decision-making purposes. To participate in post project evaluations of revenue and capital schemes. Participate as a member of the finance team in ensuring a coordinated approach to meeting the changing demands upon the Councils finance function. Develop the Council's management accounts function systems to ensure that the demands of external and internal reporting are met as effectively and efficiently as possible. To maintain and develop ledgers and systems to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the main financial systems. Ensure that Management Accounting practices and procedures are in compliance with current legislative requirements and best practice. To ensure the periodic provision of timely, accurate and relevant budgetary control information to budget holders, service managers and to Council. Maintain and develop the fixed asset register to provide information about the Council's portfolio of assets to enable the calculation of appropriate capital charges in line with accounting standards. Design and review appropriate systems for support services in line with accounting standards. Attend Council committee meetings as necessary. Establish and cost Service Level Agreements between the Council and external bodies. To advise and support the councils Treasury Management activities. To develop, review and report on performance measures in conjunction with senior managers and the corporate leadership team. Develop and deliver financial training sessions for new and existing staff and councillors in procedures and good accounting practice. Serve on selection interview panels as required. To be available from time to time to carry out duties outside of normal working pattern and in addition to basic contracted hours. Such additional hours will be remunerated in line with Council's approved policies at that time. Essential Criteria: Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline e.g. Finance, or Accountancy. Member by examination of CcAB recognised body. Consideration will be given to candidates who do not hold the above academic qualification but who can demonstrate at least 4 years' relevant experience. A minimum of two years' experience in a computerised accounting environment at a senior level. To be shortlisted for this role all applicants MUST meet the essential criteria.
