NPG Fire Safety Ltd is seeking a skilled Fire & Security Designer / Estimator to support our continued growth across the North West and beyond.

Who We Are:

We are an independent fire and security business built on the values of competency, integrity, and value.

We are multi-disciplined, with extensive third-party accreditation across all core services, including:

  • BAFE SP205 – Life Safety Fire Risk Assessment
  • BAFE SP203-1 – Design, Installation, Commissioning & Maintenance of Fire Detection & Alarm Systems

We are one of only two companies in the UK fire and security sector to hold this level of third-party accreditation across both fire safety consultancy and system delivery. Coupled with our commitment to fair pricing and high standards, this delivers real value — reflected in our 99% client retention rate.

Our culture is people-first. We have high staff retention, driven by a supportive environment, fair workloads, and real opportunities for growth. We offer competitive salaries, ongoing training, new vehicles and equipment, and a focus on balance and development rather than commission-based targets.

What we offer:

  • £40,000 – £45,000 salary (flexible for exceptional candidates)
  • Company car
  • 24 days’ annual leave + bank holidays
  • 5% company pension
  • Supportive team culture and strong company values

Key responsibilities:

  • Produce accurate and compliant fire and security system designs and estimates, aligned with relevant British Standards and project requirements
  • Prepare clear technical and commercial documentation, including drawings, specifications, and quotations
  • Provide technical input and support to engineers to ensure smooth project delivery and consistency with design specifications
  • Provide technical support and guidance to engineers throughout project delivery
  • Ensure timely delivery of estimates and proposals to support client requirements and deadlines
  • Collaborate with engineers, clients, and suppliers to ensure smooth project handover and delivery
  • Utilise design and estimating software effectively (Uptick experience preferred)
  • Maintain high levels of technical accuracy and commercial awareness across all designs and submissions

What we’re looking for:

  • Excellent technical knowledge of relevant British Standards for fire and security systems
  • Relevant qualifications (FIA Advanced Designer preferred)
  • Proven ability to deliver accurate estimates within agreed timeframes
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with clients, engineers, and suppliers
  • Proficiency in design and estimating software (Uptick experience desirable)
  • Ideally based in Cumbria or Lancashire, though Manchester and further afield may be considered, with a willingness to travel
  • Remote working may be considered for the right candidate
  • Full UK driving licence and the unrestricted right to work in the UK

If you’re seeking to join a values-led, quality-focused organisation and take on a key technical role in our next phase of growth, we’d welcome your application.
