WS Group is a leading name in logistics known for our commitment to excellence, safety, and operational efficiency. We are currently seeking an experienced Fleet Manager to take ownership of our vehicle fleet across multiple sites and ensure it operates to the highest possible standard.
The Role
As Fleet Manager, you’ll be responsible for the full end-to-end management of our fleet – from acquisition and maintenance to compliance and cost control. You’ll work closely with internal departments, suppliers, and service providers to keep our vehicles road-ready, compliant, and cost-efficient.
This is a hands-on role that requires a proactive mindset, strong organisation skills, and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet Operations & Maintenance
* Schedule and manage vehicle servicing and repairs
* Minimise downtime and ensure vehicles remain operational (reduce VORs)
* Ensure vehicles are clean, roadworthy, and aligned with company branding
* Liaise with workshops, recovery providers, and suppliers
Fleet Acquisition & Disposal
* Manage vehicle sourcing, commissioning, and branding
* Oversee de-fleeting and disposal of old or surplus vehicles
* Track asset costs and maintain accurate records
Compliance & Administration
* Ensure all vehicles comply with MOT, tax, inspection, and emission regulations
* Maintain key documentation (V5s, service logs, warranties)
* Update insurance policies and register vehicles with relevant systems (e.g. toll, congestion, ULEZ)
Cost Management
* Review and approve fleet-related invoices (repairs, insurance, tyres, etc.)
* Monitor and report on fleet spend
* Identify cost-saving opportunities and support budgeting with finance
Technology & Reporting
* Oversee tracking and camera system installations
* Monitor telematics data (vehicle usage, driver behaviour, performance)
* Prepare reports on fleet status, compliance, and costs
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Previous experience in fleet management or transport operations (preferably within logistics/distribution)
* Strong understanding of vehicle compliance, maintenance, and cost control
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and fleet management/telematics systems
* Confident working with suppliers and external service providers
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
