FLOOD RISK & DRAINAGE ENGINEER Reading Hybrid working available Salary: £40,000 to £55,000 plus benefits

New year, new job. Are you a Flood Risk and Drainage Engineer looking to step away from rigid corporate structures and into a consultancy where your technical input genuinely shapes projects? You will be based in the Reading office, working closely with a specialist drainage and water team while contributing to projects across the South East and wider UK. The workload spans developments from small infill sites through to major residential schemes of up to 10,000 homes, supporting both public and private sector clients wherever their projects are located.

The role

As a Flood Risk and Drainage Engineer, you will take ownership of technical delivery across planning and design stages.

Key responsibilities include:

* Preparing Flood Risk Assessments and drainage strategies * Designing SuDS and surface and foul water drainage systems * Ensuring compliance with planning policy and technical standards * Liaising with clients, architects, local authorities and statutory bodies * Producing technical reports and supporting planning submissions * Using software such as Causeway Flow, AutoCAD, Civils 3D and GIS * Mentoring junior engineers and sharing technical knowledge

About you

This role suits a capable Flood Risk and Drainage Engineer ready to progress.

You will ideally have:

* A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline * At least 3 years' UK experience in flood risk and drainage engineering * Strong knowledge of NPPF, PPG and the SuDS Manual * Experience with drainage modelling and technical reporting * A practical, solution-focused approach
