Job Description
Flood Risk Operations Engineer
Location: Buckley, North East Wales
Contract: Full-time, perm. Hybrid working available
Salary: £37,500
About the Role
We’re seeking a Flood Risk Operations Engineer to lead the planning, design, and delivery of flood risk maintenance and improvement projects that protect communities and strengthen climate resilience. You’ll manage engineering schemes from concept to completion, act as a health & safety champion, support incident response, and work closely with contractors, stakeholders, and partner organisations. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact while progressing your engineering career.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and deliver the annual flood risk asset maintenance programme Lead risk management planning and incident response preparation Produce and review flood incident response plans and operational procedures Scope, cost, and deliver asset improvement projects Manage budgets across revenue and capital programmes Oversee contractors and procurement activities Build strong relationships with stakeholders, including local authorities and landowners Maintain and promote high health & safety standards Participate in incident response activities
About You
HND/HNC or degree in civil engineering (or equivalent), with relevant experience Broad civil engineering design and construction knowledge Strong understanding of CDM 2015 and ability to act as Client and Designer Experience managing projects, budgets, and contractors Competent surveying skills and experience using AutoCAD/GIS Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills Full UK driving licence
