FOH Manager (12 month maternity contract)

Overlooking the scenic River Great Ouse, The Bedford Swan Hotel is a landmark Bedfordshire property, renowned for its character, style, and prime riverside location. It provides a superb backdrop for hotel stays, business trips, weddings, events and conferences.
The Front of House Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the hotel on a day-to-day basis. With key interaction with teams that ensure the property is well looked after. The role will involve daily interaction with housekeeping and maintenance and other duty managers; the successful candidate will also be involved in the upkeep and running of NEST and the new bedroom block.
THE ROLE:
Responsible for the efficient daily running of a shift and effective cover for each duty manager shift, including managing functions and events
Take control of daily tasks/ issues that may arise with maintenance and housekeeping.

Assist with functions and events
Ensure cash procedures are adhered to and strictly monitored, including preparation and calculation of bills within all departments, and cashing up of tills as per Distinct cash handling policy.
Dealing with complaints, enquiries and reviews effectively.
Ensure sufficient levels of staff are scheduled to work in line with business needs: considering staff requests, understanding budget for labour, and ensuring teams are not overstaffed during quieter times.
Promote, respect and protect the workplace
Knowledge of hotel services and events throughout the hotel.
Support Housekeeping Manager and Maintenance in completing monthly bedroom checks, any maintenance work to be passed on to the maintenance team and Group Compliance Manager.
To complete the duty managers, log after duty managers shifts.
Coordinate tasks and work with other departments; serve as a departmental role model or mentor; assign and ensure work tasks are completed on time and that they meet appropriate quality standards.
Looking after NEST/ Reception and Nights Team in collaboration with the Reception Manager.
Achieve objectives set by Management, assign tasks, and monitor progress.
Ensure work of team is performed consistently within expected standards, checking cleanliness .
THE PERSON:
Proven experience in a hands-on management role
Ability to drive sales through upselling, decision-making and a solid understanding of market trends and customer needs.
Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and creating an unforgettable experience for clients.
Ability to work effectively across departments and ensure alignment with the hotels overall goals.
A natural problem-solver who is calm under pressure and adept at resolving issues
A charismatic personality, able to build rapport
