Job Description

Forward Deployed Scientist

Location: Central London, UK

We are working with a well-funded, highly innovative AI-driven biotechnology organisation operating at the intersection of computational science and human biology. The team generates its own proprietary data, develops general-purpose biological foundation models, and translates scientific discovery into meaningful research and clinical outcomes. The organisation’s first mission is to tackle the brain - to achieve a deep mechanistic understanding, protect it from neurological disease, and enhance it in health. Its growing, interdisciplinary team of AI researchers, experimental scientists, clinicians, and operators is distributed across London, San Francisco, and Dubai.

The team is now seeking a Forward Deployed Scientist to embed its foundational AI model platform with early partners and to evaluate potential research outcomes and product hypotheses.

The Role

  • Embed closely with early design partners - including research institutes, enterprise users, clinics, and healthcare providers to develop a deep understanding of their data, workflows, constraints, and business or clinical objectives across use cases such as cfDNA fragment analysis, epigenetic embedding, multi-omic integration, diagnostic reporting, and patient-specific risk stratification.
  • Translate real-world problems into robust, deployable solutions using Pleiades, designing and implementing custom pipelines, data ingestion frameworks, model integrations, and output handling tailored to each partner’s technical and operational environment.
  • Define and establish deployment best practices to ensure scalability, reliability, and reproducibility across customer implementations.
  • Continuously feed insights from deployments back into the R&D roadmap, helping to prioritise model enhancements, new product features, and future research directions.

Essential Experience

  • A collaborative, low-ego, team-oriented mindset, balancing scientific rigour with practical, operational decision-making.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including scientists, clinicians, operations teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Deep technical fluency across data science, machine learning, and computational biology, ideally with strong experience in bioinformatics, multi-omic analysis, and clinical data.
  • Strong programming and scripting skills (e.g. Python, R, or equivalent), including experience building data-processing and ETL pipelines and integrating machine-learning models into production systems.
  • Proven experience bridging research and production, translating academic research and large-scale machine learning into robust, deployable products.
  • Familiarity with data governance and compliance requirements, such as data anonymisation, GDPR, auditability, and data provenance.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous, early-stage environments, with the ability to navigate incomplete or noisy data, iterate rapidly, improvise tools, and take ownership of deployments end-to-end.
  • Experience building tools and frameworks for ML/AI workloads, including data pipelines, infrastructure, modular and reusable codebases, CI/CD for ML systems, and monitoring.
  • Prior experience deploying ML/AI systems in regulated or high-stakes environments, such as clinical laboratories, healthcare, diagnostics, or enterprise settings.

Location

This role is based in Central London, UK with on-site collaboration expected.
