A leading infrastructure consultancy is seeking an experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor to support major civil engineering works across the Thames Water AMP framework in London. This Freelance Quantity Surveyor position offers the opportunity to work on essential water infrastructure projects delivered by a major contractor within one of the UK’s most significant utilities investment programmes.

This Freelance Quantity Surveyor role offers a rare two-year commission, providing excellent contract stability while working within a high-performing commercial team. The successful Freelance Quantity Surveyor will play a key role supporting project delivery across civil engineering and utilities infrastructure works, ensuring strong commercial control and contract compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Working as a Freelance Quantity Surveyor, you will be embedded within the project team supporting infrastructure works delivered under the NEC form of contract, contributing to the commercial success of projects within the Thames Water AMP infrastructure framework.

Responsibilities

As a Freelance Quantity Surveyor, you will manage key commercial activities across civil engineering and utilities infrastructure works while ensuring strong contractual and financial control.

Key responsibilities for the Freelance Quantity Surveyor include:

Managing cost reporting, cost forecasting, and financial tracking across project packages

Administering NEC contracts and managing compensation events

Supporting procurement and subcontractor management

Preparing and managing interim valuations, applications, and final accounts

Providing commercial support and cost advice to project delivery teams

Monitoring project budgets, risks, and commercial performance

Ensuring contractual compliance across civil engineering and infrastructure works

The successful Freelance Quantity Surveyor will have experience working on civil engineering, infrastructure, or utilities projects, alongside strong knowledge of NEC contracts.
