Freelance Site Manager\n\nLeeds - Refurbishment of a derelict building into a school building- £4M\n£300 Per Day\n\nStart Date: 1st July 2026\n\n52-Week Contract\n\nBlaymires Recruitment is representing a leading fit-out specialist company who are seeking an experienced Freelance Site Manager to oversee an exciting refurbishment project in Leeds.\n\nYou will be responsible for managing the refurbishment of a large derelict school building that has been empty for 10 years into a modern, purpose-built special needs education facility.\n\nThe Project\n\n * This £4 million refurbishment and conversion will involve a full-scale transformation of an existing structure, including:\n\n * Large new roof\n\n * Installation of new flooring and carpets\n\n * Painting and decorating throughout\n\n * Extensive plastering works\n\n * Full mechanical and electrical installations\n\n * Replacement with a new slate roof\n\n * Construction of a new car park and associated external/grounds works\n\nRole & Responsibilities\n\n * Day-to-day site management and coordination of subcontractors\n\n * Ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, and within budget\n\n * Maintaining high standards of quality and compliance\n\n * Liaising with clients, consultants, and project stakeholders\n\n * Managing site documentation, reporting, and progress tracking\n\n * Overseeing health & safety procedures and site regulations\n\nRequirements\n\n * Proven experience as a Site Manager on refurbishment or conversion projects\n\n * Strong background across multiple trades, including M&E and finishing works\n\n * Valid SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid certifications\n\n * Excellent organisational and communication skills\n\n * Ability to manage programmes and drive progress in a live project environment\n\nWhat’s on Offer\n\n * Long-term freelance contract (approx. 52 weeks)\n\n * Competitive day rate of £300\n\n * Opportunity to work on a meaningful project delivering a specialist education facility\n\nIf you would like to know more about this project, then contact Stephen Blaymires at Blaymires Recruitment
