A great opportunity has arisen for an experienced Garment Technologist to join a leading outerwear and leisure supplier on a part-time freelance basis. Based in their London office, you'll be working 1-2 days per week supporting the design team on the development of high-quality, cost-effective children's outerwear and leisurewear collections.
This hands-on role is ideal for a technically skilled garment tech who understands the full product lifecycle and is confident advising on fit, construction and production viability.
Main responsibilities will include:
Running in-house fit sessions and providing clear, proactive technical advice to designers in line with brand standards
Translating CADs into accurate 1st protos by advising on fabric choice, construction and cost-effective solutions
Liaising with the in-house design team and offshore sample rooms in China
Ensuring proto garments meet specification and customer standards
Maintaining and updating the block library and sourcing relevant samples
Measuring bought samples for both development and reference use
Person Specification:
Proven experience in garment technology within childrenswear
Strong understanding of garment construction, fabrics and fit techniques
Confident working closely with designers and offshore factories
Skilled in measuring and evaluating garment samples
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
