Job Title: General Manager – Aviation and Marine

Location: Aberdeen, with regular travel across the UK and internationally as required


Job Overview:

A leading offshore logistics provider is seeking a General Manager – Aviation and Marine to deliver strategic and operational leadership across integrated offshore logistics services. The successful candidate will oversee helicopter and personnel movement, marine chartering, vessel sharing, and marine monitoring operations.

This role carries full P&L accountability, with a focus on safety, service excellence, compliance, and digital transformation. It is a pivotal leadership role aligned with the client’s long-term integrated logistics and energy transition strategies.


Key Responsibilities:


Strategic Leadership

  • Define and lead strategy for aviation and marine logistics in line with corporate goals.
  • Shape growth across traditional and emerging energy markets.
  • Champion innovation and digital adoption in scheduling, tracking, and planning.


Operational & Regulatory Oversight

  • Oversee helicopter operations including flight scheduling and Vantage system integration.
  • Ensure safe, compliant marine services including chartering, assurance, vessel sharing, and 500m zone monitoring.
  • Strengthen compliance with industry regulations and internal safety systems.
  • Manage risk and readiness across offshore logistics operations.


Commercial & Financial Management

  • Full P&L ownership for aviation and marine units, including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Lead commercial bids, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations.
  • Identify new revenue opportunities and improve margins.


Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as senior contact for clients, regulators, and aviation/marine stakeholders.
  • Foster strong customer relationships and ensure high satisfaction and retention.
  • Lead contract performance reviews and provide strategic insights.


People Leadership & Culture

  • Lead and develop high-performing aviation and marine teams.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee succession planning and resource development.


Collaboration & Integration

  • Collaborate across logistics and integrated services teams to deliver cohesive client solutions.
  • Drive synergy between aviation and marine functions to enhance efficiency and service quality.
  • Engage in industry groups and promote best practice adoption.


Reporting & Compliance

  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting, audits, and resolution of issues.


HSSEQ Leadership

  • Promote a proactive safety culture and lead by example.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Lead audits and incident investigations, driving continuous learning.

Candidate Profile:


Experience & Sector Knowledge

  • Senior leadership experience in aviation logistics, marine operations, or integrated offshore logistics.
  • In-depth knowledge of helicopter operations, Vantage, marine chartering, vessel monitoring, and 500m zone control.
  • Familiarity with vessel sharing and offshore planning models.


Leadership & Management

  • Proven track record in a GM or senior operational leadership role.
  • Strong people management and engagement skills.
  • Experience leading through change and transformation.
  • Effective communicator with strong influencing skills.
  • Decisive, pragmatic approach to commercial and operational challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Honours degree in Logistics, Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent operational experience).
  • Senior leadership experience in aviation, marine, or offshore logistics.
  • Desirable: Safety management qualifications in aviation/marine; training in project management or continuous improvement.
