Job overview Due to promotion, an exciting leadership opportunity has arisen within the Royal National Ear, Nose & Throat & Eastman Dental Hospitals for a highly professional and enthusiastic General Manager to join the Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals at UCLH NHS Foundation Trust. This role will be aligned to the Surgical Specialties within the division, including adult and paediatric ENT, oral surgery and sleep services. Main duties of the job Working closely with the Clinical Lead and Matron, the post‑holder will be the operational figurehead for the department – leading on all operational, strategic, and financial aspects of the service. The GM will ensure that the division continues to provide a high‑quality, patient‑centred service, leading or supporting all components of the quality & safety agenda. The GM will manage theatres and clinics to ensure efficient running, monitor clinical activity, income, and CIP plans, and improve RRT position and reduce long waits. The GM will lead a large team of clinical and support staff and act as a senior leader and role model for the whole department. Working for our organisation University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) is a large NHS trust providing academically led acute and specialist services across eight sites, including University College Hospital, National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals, and others. Knowledge and Qualifications Essential criteria
Management degree or equivalent (or significant equivalent experience) High standard of written and spoken English
Desirable criteria
A formal postgraduate qualification, ideally in management
Experience Essential criteria
Significant experience in management within the NHS Experience of service redesign and development Experience of effective management of budgets Proven success in business planning and strategic implementation Proven record of success in managing operational change while maintaining high standards of quality Experience of leading and managing a team
Skills and Abilities Essential criteria
Strong understanding of multidisciplinary issues Detailed knowledge of NHS targets and other topical NHS issues Sound understanding of issues affecting operational staff and ability to solve them Project management skills IT literate – proficient in word processing and spreadsheet packages
