Location: Bolton | Onsite Manufacturing Facility As a trusted partner to the UK Ministry of Defence, our client is seeking an experienced Goods Inwards Inspector to join their established Bolton site. This role plays a critical part in ensuring all incoming materials meet purchase order, contractual, and quality requirements within a highly regulated, safety-critical manufacturing environment. You will support production schedules, maintain full compliance, and help safeguard quality standards across the supply chain. Key Responsibilities
Inspect and verify all incoming goods against purchase orders, contracts, and quality requirements Formally accept procured products in line with approved standards and conditions Read and interpret engineering and assembly drawings, including dimensional tolerances Inspect components for damage, surface finish, paint defects, and first-off requirements Complete and maintain accurate inspection and quality documentation Validate delivery paperwork, ensuring full traceability and compliance Meet agreed inspection turnaround times to support manufacturing schedules Identify, segregate, and control non-conforming material, raising NCRs as required Support product verification through audits, including PCB inspection where applicable Maintain compliance with manufacturing, quality, and safety procedures
Essential Qualifications
You must hold one of the following:
Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Level 3 Apprenticeship (Advanced or L3 Standard) OR
Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Level 3 academic qualification (ONC, Diploma, etc.) AND
Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Level 3 vocational qualification (NVQ) (NVQ not required where a full L3 apprenticeship standard has been achieved) Essential Experience
Proven goods-in inspection experience within a manufacturing environment Strong understanding of inspection requirements for safety-critical components Stores and incoming materials experience is essential (Mechanical inspection experience alone is not suitable for this role) Additional Skills
Manual handling and ESD awareness SAP experience desirable
Security Clearance
British Citizen or Dual UK national with British citizenship.
