Job Description

GPU Accelerated Bioinformatics Engineer

Location: Central London, UK

We are working with a well-funded, highly innovative AI-driven biotechnology organisation operating at the intersection of computational science and human biology. The team generates its own proprietary data, develops general-purpose biological foundation models, and translates scientific discovery into meaningful research and clinical outcomes. The organisation’s first mission is to tackle the brain - to achieve a deep mechanistic understanding, protect it from neurological disease, and enhance it in health. Its growing, interdisciplinary team of AI researchers, experimental scientists, clinicians, and operators is distributed across London, San Francisco, and Dubai.

The team is now seeking a GPU-accelerated bioinformatics specialist to design and own scalable production pipelines for multi-omic data processing, enabling rapid AI model development from hypothesis to patent-ready outcomes.

The Role

  • Design and implement GPU-native bioinformatics pipelines using Flyte and/or Nextflow for large-scale multi-omics data processing (1,000+ samples).
  • Optimise performance and cost efficiency, applying GPU acceleration strategically where it delivers the greatest impact.
  • Collaborate closely with experimental and machine-learning teams to validate and refine computational results, ensuring data processing aligns with downstream model requirements.
  • Design, deploy, and maintain cloud-based infrastructure to support scalable, production-grade workflows.
  • Develop and manage targeted external research collaborations with academic and industrial partners.

Essential Experience

  • Strong biological intuition combined with advanced computational expertise, enabling effective reasoning across complex biological systems.
  • Demonstrated experience analysing multi-omic datasets in either research or applied environments.
  • Strong programming proficiency (e.g. Python, R), with experience building robust, reproducible bioinformatics workflows.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms and large-scale data processing, supporting scalable and efficient analysis.
  • A collaborative, cross-functional working style, with the ability to clearly communicate complex technical results to diverse audiences.
  • A strong academic or industrial research background, with evidence of high-quality scientific output.

Location

This role is based in Central London, UK with on-site collaboration expected.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This position offers the chance to work within a mission-driven organisation at the forefront of AI-enabled biology, contributing directly to research with the potential to reshape disease understanding and therapeutic discovery. The environment is intellectually rigorous, fast-paced, and designed for individuals who want to have a tangible scientific impact. The company offers a competitive salary, potential equity package and other company benefits.
