Could you be our Graduate title within our Building Standards team?
We re looking for a motivated graduate to support our small, award winning Building Standards team in this key statutory role.
You will assist officers with the provision of professional Building Standards activities by supporting the team in day-to-day tasks including assessment, inspection and processing of Building Standards verification, enforcement and licensing work. You will help ensure the effective performance management of case work in order to assist with the promotion, delivery and integration of key Building Standards objectives within Place Services.

During your time with us, we will ensure you receive the training and development you need to contribute fully to the valuable work of the Building Standards team. Training will be given with a focus in background technical building standards electronic technical systems that underpin the service.
What we are looking for
The ideal person for this role will be proactive, adaptable, and committed to making a positive impact in their work.
You will have a HND or above in either a Property, Building or Construction related subject or another recognised relevant subject.
We look for core skills for all our graduate posts which are:

Good written and oral communication
Interpersonal

Project management
Report writing
Analytical skills
Team working
Computer skills including use of MS Office
Ability to use your initiative and organise your own workload

Experience with GIS mapping systems, databases, and media platforms is desirable.
Knowledge of land use planning policy covering environmental, economic, and social issues is also desirable.
The role will involve occasional travel to sites within the Council area, as well as attendance at meetings held at other locations as part of work duties. A full driving licence is desirable, and pool cars are available for business use.
