Graduate Quantity Surveyor
Location: York
Salary: £28,000 – £32,000 + benefits
A respected and growing construction and development consultancy is looking to recruit a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join its York office. The business delivers cost and commercial consultancy services across a diverse range of sectors, including education, residential, healthcare, commercial and regeneration projects.
This role is ideal for a recent graduate who is keen to develop a career in Quantity Surveying within a supportive consultancy environment. You’ll be given structured training, hands-on project exposure and clear guidance toward professional qualification.
The Role
Working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and Cost Managers, you will assist in the delivery of cost management services across all stages of the project lifecycle. From day one, you’ll gain practical experience on live projects and have the opportunity to build strong technical and professional skills.
Key Responsibilities

Assisting with the preparation of cost estimates, cost plans and tender documents
*
Measuring and quantifying construction works
*
Supporting tender reviews and contractor evaluations
*
Helping monitor project costs, variations and valuations
*
Assisting in the preparation of cost reports and forecasts
*
Attending client, consultant and site meetings as part of the wider project team
About You
*
Recently completed a degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
*
A placement year or relevant industry experience is advantageous but not essential
*
Strong numerical and analytical ability with good attention to detail
*
Good communication skills and a willingness to learn
*
Motivated, reliable and keen to build a long-term career in consultancy
*
Interested in working toward MRICS or equivalent professional accreditation
