Trainee Recruitment Consultant – Quantitative Finance & Technology


A specialist recruitment firm operating at the top tier of the quantitative finance and technology market. Founded approximately eight years ago, the company has a team of around seven consultants and works exclusively with premier quantitative hedge funds and investment banks.


Clients are based across major global financial hubs, including New York, London, Chicago, Geneva, Paris, Amsterdam, Singapore, and Sydney. The business is known for its quality-over-quantity approach, high average fees, and strong reputation with both clients and candidates.


Role Overview


This is an entry-level Trainee Recruitment Consultant position, operating as a 180, headhunting-focused role. The successful candidate will focus on identifying, engaging, and managing highly technical candidates within quantitative trading and technology.


The role offers early responsibility, direct exposure to senior-level searches, and the opportunity to develop into a specialist consultant.


Key Responsibilities


  • Proactive headhunting and candidate outreach
  • Conducting in-depth conversations with highly technical candidates (e.g. Quant Researchers, Software Engineers)
  • Managing recruitment processes from initial contact through to placement
  • Supporting and participating in offer-stage negotiations
  • Full ownership of candidates from day one


Training & Development


  • Highly hands-on training with direct mentorship
  • Minimum of one hour per day initially working closely with Alice
  • Early exposure to live calls through listening, roleplays, and shadowing
  • Training on how to define, scope, and run searches effectively
  • Continuous learning with strong involvement in final-stage management and negotiations


Salary & Benefits


  • Base salary: £25,000 – £30,000
  • Commission paid on first deal
  • Increased commission percentage on second deal
