Graduate Teaching Assistant - Special School (Barking and Dagenham)
We are currently recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive special school in Barking and Dagenham, working with children and young people with a range of special educational needs (SEN). This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate looking to begin a career in education and gain meaningful, hands-on classroom experience.
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and support staff to help pupils access learning in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment. The school in Barking and Dagenham provides tailored education for children with additional needs, and you will play a key role in supporting both academic and personal development.
Key Responsibilities - Graduate Teaching Assistant:
Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups Assist in delivering tailored learning activities across the curriculum Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing Work collaboratively with teaching staff and therapists Adapt resources to meet individual learning needs Contribute to a safe and inclusive classroom environment in Barking and Dagenham About You:
Health and Social Care or Psychology Graduate in education and training Passionate about working in education and supporting children with special needs Patient, empathetic, and resilient Strong communication and teamwork skills Previous experience with SEN (voluntary or paid) is desirable but not essential What We Offer:
