Job Title: Electrical Field Engineer - Solar O&M (2 Positions) Location: Cheshire & New Harley, England Contract: 2-Year Contract (with option to extend up to 5 additional years)
About the Role We are seeking two experienced Electrical Field Engineers to support the operation and maintenance (O&M) of utility-scale solar PV plants in England. Working as part of a global renewable energy services provider, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of two ground-mounted solar sites.
Project Overview
Site 1: ~8 MWp solar PV plant (approx. 10 ha)
Site 2: ~29 MWp solar PV plant (approx. 35 ha)
Ground-mounted structures with string inverter technology
Key Responsibilities
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on solar PV infrastructure and electrical equipment
Inspect, test, and maintain HV/MV transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, busbars, power cables, and protection systems
Carry out thermographic inspections, testing of protection relays, and electrical switching operations
Maintain inverters, PV modules, mounting structures, and monitoring systems
Conduct inspections of battery systems, rectifiers, surge arresters, capacitor banks, and control systems
Ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently in line with manufacturer specifications and site procedures
Support fault finding, repairs, and system performance checks
Maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records
Comply with all UK health, safety, environmental, and electrical regulations
Requirements
Gold ECS Card (mandatory)
Experience working with solar PV plants or similar electrical infrastructure
Strong knowledge of HV/MV/LV electrical systems and maintenance practices
Ability to perform inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance across electrical equipment
Relevant technical certifications and electrical qualifications
Strong commitment to health, safety, and compliance
What We're Looking For
Hands-on field engineers with strong electrical troubleshooting skills
Experience in renewable energy or utility-scale electrical assets
Ability to work independently on operational sites while maintaining high safety standards
