The Role:
You will lead the college’s maintenance, engineering and minor works functions, ensuring our estate is safe, compliant and well maintained across all campuses. This includes managing the day to day maintenance team and project officers, overseeing planned and reactive works, and delivering small scale construction and improvement projects. The role combines operational leadership with technical expertise, statutory compliance oversight and a commitment to continuous improvement, all contributing to a positive health and safety culture.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead, motivate and develop the maintenance team and project officers, ensuring high performance, clear priorities and effective resource planning.
• Oversee reactive and planned preventative maintenance, ensuring statutory compliance and best practice across all building services.
• Manage CAFM workflows, ensuring accurate records, timely updates and efficient scheduling.
• Deliver minor works and small construction projects to specification, budget and programme, including handover, commissioning and certification.
• Maintain the asset register and planned maintenance programme, supporting lifecycle planning and condition surveys.
• Manage contractors and suppliers, ensuring KPIs and SLAs are met and contributing to tendering and contract reviews.
• Oversee maintenance and minor works budgets, ensuring value for money and providing performance reports and KPIs.
• Support wider college responsibilities including duty manager rota, enrolment activities and exam invigilation.
Who You Are:
You are an experienced maintenance, engineering or building services professional with strong leadership skills and a collaborative, solution focused approach. You bring proven experience managing teams and contractors, delivering maintenance operations and small scale projects, and ensuring statutory compliance across mechanical, electrical and fabric services.
You can interpret technical information clearly and communicate it in accessible, non technical language. You are committed to continuous improvement, innovation and maintaining a safe, compliant working environment.
You uphold inclusive, anti racist and respectful behaviours, with a strong commitment to safeguarding, equality and supporting diverse communities.
You hold or are working towards relevant professional qualifications such as CIBSE, CIOB or RICS membership, alongside NEBOSH certification, with project management qualifications desirable.
