The Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Group Sustainability & Health and Safety Manager to lead the strategic direction and operational execution of the company’s HSE and sustainability initiatives. This role will oversee all manufacturing operations in the UK, ensuring legal compliance, driving continuous improvement, and embedding a strong culture of care and environmental responsibility.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a group-wide strategy for health, safety, and sustainability aligned with business values and goals
  • Lead cultural transformation to foster an engaged, proactive safety and sustainability culture across all sites
  • Standardise and align health, safety, and sustainability practices across the group
  • Oversee workplace safety and ensure compliance with UK legislation and industry standards
  • Champion employee wellbeing and occupational health best practices
  • Lead incident reduction efforts and own key performance indicators such as TRIR and LTIFR
  • Design and implement a sustainability roadmap focused on carbon reduction, energy efficiency, and waste management
  • Stay ahead of environmental regulations and emerging trends to ensure business readiness
  • Engage stakeholders internally and externally to build awareness and support for HSE and sustainability goals
  • Deliver training, engagement initiatives, and behavioural change programmes to enhance organisational performance
  • Monitor and report on progress using data-driven insights and regular audits


What We’re Looking For:

  • Senior-level experience in health, safety, and sustainability within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • In-depth knowledge of UK HSE legislation and sustainability standards
  • Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills across all levels of a business
  • Experience managing cultural change and embedding behavioural safety practices
  • NEBOSH Diploma (essential); environmental/sustainability qualifications (desirable)
  • Membership of IOSH and/or IEMA (or working towards chartered status)
  • Proven ability to lead multi-site programmes and achieve measurable results


Success in This Role Will Be Measured By:

  • Reduction in incidents and lost time injuries
  • On-time completion of HSE actions and sustainability initiatives
  • Emissions reductions (Scope 1 & 2)
  • Employee training completion rates and wellbeing outcomes
  • Improved safety culture metrics through surveys and feedback

  • External regulatory and advisory partners
