The Opportunity
We are urgently seeking an HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be a vital part of our laboratory operations, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and laboratory excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform analysis of blood, haematological, and biochemical samples.
- Validate, interpret, and authorise laboratory results.
- Monitor and maintain quality control procedures and documentation.
- Perform daily maintenance and troubleshooting on laboratory equipment (e.g., haematology analysers, biochemistry analysers, immunochemistry analysers, microscopes, PCR equipment).
- Prepare and process patient samples, ensuring proper sample integrity and quality standards.
- Manage stock levels and liaise with senior staff regarding supply requirements.
- Contribute to updating standard operating procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate actively in staff training, supervision, and professional development.
- Handle urgent communications of critical results to clinical staff.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and laboratory best practices.
- Collaborate closely with the team to deliver fast, reliable, and quality diagnostic services.
Requirements
- BSc/MSc in Biomedical Science (Essential).
- HCPC Registration as a Biomedical Scientist (Essential).
- Minimum of 3 years' post-graduate experience in a medical laboratory/pathology setting (Essential).
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with key laboratory equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work independently.
- Outstanding communication and customer service skills.
- Must be fluent in English.

Working hours
- Full-time position based on 40 hours per week minimum.
- Shift patterns range between 8 to 12 hours per day.
- Flexibility is essential as shift allocation may vary depending on operational requirements.
