Our Team: How we enrich everyday life
You’ll be joining a collaborative group of cloud, digital and broadcast technology specialists who play a crucial role in powering Bauer Media Audio’s products across the UK and our international markets. Together, we design, operate and evolve the cloud platforms that keep our live radio, streaming, digital products and on‑demand audio running reliably, securely and at scale.
You’ll be part of a unified Cloud Engineering & Operations team — bringing together colleagues from Digital, Broadcast Technology and Central Support Services to create a single, high‑performing function focused on operational excellence, security and resilience.
The Difference you will make
In this newly shaped leadership role, you will define the strategic direction for Bauer’s cloud platforms and ensure they are designed, operated and governed to the highest standards. You will take ownership of how our cloud environments run day to day, ensuring they remain resilient, trusted and available 24/7.
You will bring clarity where ownership is currently distributed across teams, strengthening our operational discipline and embedding best‑practice engineering. You’ll be the senior technical decision‑maker during major incidents, the voice that brings calm and direction, and a key partner to executives, auditors and regulators.
This is a unique opportunity to shape how cloud engineering and operations function across a modern, multi‑market media organisation — setting the benchmark for reliability, security and operational excellence.
Your role
In this role, you will focus on building a high standard Cloud Engineering & Operations capability. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Setting a clear vision and operating model for Cloud Engineering & Operations
Defining and enforcing standards for reliability, security and operational readiness
Unifying Cloud Engineering & Ops across multiple technical teams
Providing senior technical leadership in complex, high‑availability environments
Owning 24/7 operational readiness, including on‑call structures and escalation models
Leading major incidents with clear and timely communication to executives
Driving measurable operational outcomes (availability, MTTR, change success, security posture)
Owning least‑privilege access, secrets management and vulnerability management
Ensuring a measurable, defensible cloud security posture
Leading cloud contributions to Digital Operational Resilience, including DORA obligations
Overseeing cloud resilience design, ICT risk controls and audit‑ready evidence
Ensuring cloud platform data is accurate, auditable and available
Partnering closely with Digital, Broadcast Tech, Security, Risk, Audit and Technical Operations
Owning and refining SLOs and SLAs aligned to business needs
The skills you will bring
Significant experience in Cloud Engineering and Cloud Operations
Proven experience running 24/7 operations, on‑call models and leading major incidents
Deep understanding of cloud security principles and operational risk
Experience with IaC (Terraform), CI/CD and modern cloud engineering practices
Ability to lead, develop and unify high‑performing engineering teams (c.10–20 people)
Excellent communication skills, confident working with executives and regulators
Experience supporting DORA or similar operational resilience frameworks
Background in multi‑market or regulated environments
Experience consolidating or transforming cloud or platform teams
