Job Description
Our client is a leading global telecommunications company operating in a fast-paced, highly regulated and commercially driven environment. They are seeking a Head of Risk and Compliance to join their team on a permanent basis. This is a senior leadership role responsible for bringing structure, clarity and accountability to a complex risk and compliance landscape and this includes defining ownership of key risks, strengthening alignment with corporate functions and ensuring that compliance practices support business growth.
This role requires a pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach, balancing regulatory requirements with commercial priorities. Experience in telecommunications or a similarly regulated industry is desirable. The Head of Risk and Compliance will identify and prioritise the most material risks, map and enhance control frameworks and embed compliance practices in a way that is practical, relevant and aligned to commercial objectives.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead the Risk and Compliance team, delivering oversight across multiple jurisdictions.
- Own the compliance agenda, focusing on areas including anti-bribery, trade and sanctions, regulatory compliance and general compliance oversight.
- Identify the most material risks, assess existing controls, address gaps and develop tailored, business-relevant mitigations.
- Drive the implementation of compliance initiatives aligned with local and global regulations while supporting commercial objectives.
- Partner with corporate risk and regulatory functions to clarify ownership of key risks and close governance gaps.
- Provide guidance on enterprise-wide risk initiatives, ensuring appropriate identification, management and escalation of risks.
- Translate complex regulatory requirements into actionable, business-friendly solutions.
- Advise on new initiatives, commercial decisions and strategic projects to ensure compliance obligations are met.
- Act as a trusted partner to senior leadership and wider corporate functions, balancing regulatory and risk requirements with business needs.
Candidate Core Competencies, Knowledge, and Experience
- Proven ability to manage compliance and risk across multinational organisations.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and management skills.
- Strong leadership and people management experience.
- Strategic business acumen: analytical mindset with the ability to simplify complex challenges into practical solutions and policies.
- Expertise in compliance, risk and regulatory frameworks, capable of advising and influencing senior leadership.
- Strong networking and relationship-building skills with regulators, authorities and industry bodies.
- Innovation and change management capabilities, able to find creative solutions and drive critical initiatives.
- Highly conscientious, taking full ownership of responsibilities.
- Pragmatic and business-focused approach with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Strong presentation and communication skills, able to clearly articulate complex regulatory and risk matters.
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to make a real impact in shaping risk and compliance strategy within a global telecommunications business.
