What you’ll do As the Head of Consumer Communications at Argos, you will lead and shape the consumer communications approach for Argos and Habitat within the marketing team. Your primary focus will be to devise and deliver a strategic consumer communications plan that supports the business strategy and strengthens brand reputation, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives. You will drive high‑quality media coverage and creative, insight‑driven campaigns that build desirability, distinctiveness, and cultural relevance for Argos, positioning it as the retailer of choice. Additionally, you will champion an integrated approach to amplification across earned, influencer, social, and owned channels to position Argos as the primary answer in AI‑generated search results, ensuring the brand maintains distinctiveness and authority in the evolving landscape of AI‑driven search and discovery. Who you are As the Head of Consumer Communications at Argos, you are a strategic and innovative leader with extensive experience in consumer communications and PR within the retail industry. With a deep understanding of the evolving media landscape and digital trends, you excel in shaping and delivering high‑impact campaigns that drive brand visibility, reputation, and customer engagement. Your exceptional communication skills, strong analytical capabilities, and proven track record in managing complex relationships and senior stakeholders make you a key player in driving desirability, distinctiveness, and cultural relevance for the Argos brand.
Significant senior‑level experience leading consumer communications and PR across complex, large‑scale organisations. Strong expertise across UK media (online, offline and emerging) and passion/curiosity for emerging AI/LLM‑driven channels Proven ability to deliver high‑impact, insight‑driven campaigns, manage agencies and handle large volumes of information under pressure. Excellent leadership capability — team development, collaboration, strategic thinking and budget management.
