Head of Data Analytics, Data Science & AI

Location: West Midlands

Permanent | Full-Time | Hybrid working

The Opportunity

CTA are partnering with a reputable business who are looking for a technically focus leader in a pivotal role at the centre of a fast-scaling, multi-site organisation undergoing significant transformation.

With strong investment behind its data capabilities, the business is on a journey to become truly insight- and intelligence-led. As Head of Data, Analytics & AI, you will define and lead that evolution; shaping how data, analytics, and advanced intelligence are used to drive performance and competitive advantage.

Working closely with senior leadership, you will transition the organisation from traditional reporting toward a modern, integrated data ecosystem, combining Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and scalable data science and AI capabilities to deliver a true single version of the truth and forward-looking insight.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will operate as both a strategic leader and hands-on transformer, accountable for advancing data maturity across analytics, data science, and AI:

  • Define and execute a holistic data, analytics, and AI strategy aligned to growth and value creation
  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team spanning BI, analytics, and data science
  • Drive improvements in data quality, governance, and consistency across the organisation
  • Transform reporting through Power BI and Microsoft Fabric, building scalable, intuitive, and insight-driven dashboards
  • Establish a modern data platform using Fabric, enabling seamless integration of data engineering, analytics, and AI workloads
  • Embed data and insight into daily decision-making across commercial, operational, and financial functions
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to deliver actionable insights across pricing, margin, stock, volume, and performance drivers
  • Develop and introduce data science and AI use cases (e.g. forecasting, optimisation, segmentation), ensuring they are commercially relevant and scalable
  • Balance innovation with pragmatism — ensuring AI initiatives deliver real business value, not just experimentation
  • Build trust in data and analytics by improving transparency, accessibility, and usability

What We’re Looking For

Strategic & Leadership

  • Proven experience leading data, analytics, and/or data science functions in a complex, high-volume environment
  • Track record of transforming how organisations use data and insight to drive performance
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to translate data into tangible outcomes
  • Experience influencing and challenging senior stakeholders with credibility

Technical Expertise

  • Deep expertise in Power BI (data modelling, DAX, dashboard design)
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Fabric or similar modern data platforms
  • Advanced capability in SQL and data manipulation
  • Solid understanding of data science techniques (e.g. forecasting, regression, segmentation, optimisation)
  • Exposure to or experience delivering AI/ML solutions in a business context
  • Understanding of how to operationalise models within a broader data platform

Character & Mindset

  • Ownership-driven leader who thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments
  • Pragmatic and delivery-focused — able to bridge strategy and execution
  • Comfortable being hands-on and leading from the front when required
  • Passionate about making data, analytics, and AI accessible and impactful
  • Curious, forward-thinking, and continuously looking to improve
  • Confident challenging the status quo and driving meaningful change

Why This Role?

  • High-impact role with visibility at senior leadership level
  • Opportunity to shape a modern data, analytics, and AI capability from the ground up
  • Work at the intersection of Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and applied data science
  • A fast-growth environment where innovation is encouraged — but always grounded in commercial value

The company are offering a competitive salary, bonus, car allowance and an opportunity to part of a profitable equity scheme. This opportunity would be great for an individual looking to step into a growing company and team who would like to get involved in a major transformation across the company.
