Head of Data Strategy & Implementation in Data Analytics Transformation
Join to apply for the Head of Data Strategy & Implementation in Data Analytics Transformation role at Women in Data® at a Bank.
This is an exciting role at the heart of the Data & Analytics Transformation (DAT) Directorate, heading up the Data Strategy Implementation Division (DSID).
It is an exciting time to work in DAT as we deliver the Bank’s Data & Analytics (D&A) Strategy, including moving the Bank’s data and running its analytical processes on the cloud, strengthening how we acquire and share data externally, rolling out artificial intelligence tools, and delivering a data literacy agenda for all roles. You will be joining DAT’s Leadership Team, which has a collaborative and inclusive culture, and drives change at pace for the good of the Bank as a whole.
Almost everything the Bank does depends on the effective use of data and analytics (D&A). DAT’s role is to help the Bank make the best use of D&A to fulfil its mission, which is in large part defined and delivered by the Data Strategy Implementation Division (DSID). DSID also directly enables colleagues to use data, by providing many of the central D&A tools, platforms, services, training and specialist support.
DSID is formed of five teams:
Analytics Enablement Hub (AEH) provides the Bankwide analytics strategy. It supports colleagues realise the potential of our data and to make effective use of the analytical tools and platforms available to them.
Data Management Hub (DMH) focuses on the development, execution and governance of policies and practices to deliver, control, protect and enhance the value of the Bank’s data. It supports colleagues to better manage their data assets.
Skills and Culture Hub (SCH) has an objective to close D&A skills gaps and to transform the Bank’s D&A culture. It does this through upskilling, nurturing a collaborative culture, connecting users across the Bank to the services they need.
Strategy Implementation Framework (SIF) team designs and implements a delivery framework to support teams across D&A to more effectively deliver improved D&A outcomes.
User Centred Service Design (UCSD) team creates and optimises user‑centric services, products, and experiences to ensure they meet the needs and expectations of users while aligning with the organisation’s objectives.
The nature of the work makes DSID a home to many different skillsets, including data scientists, data governance experts, communications professionals, skills and training leads, and delivery managers. The division comprises around 50 staff and is responsible for provision of a number of Bankwide services.
Responsibilities
Leadership
This is a significant leadership role. The successful applicant will be responsible for day‑to‑day leadership of the DSID senior management team and of DSID more broadly, as well as working closely with the rest of the DAT Leadership Team to run the wider directorate.
The Head of DSID line manages the senior managers of the division directly and through them around 50 staff across the division. Alongside overseeing the continued running and improvement of our central data and analytics products and services, this leadership role also includes supporting the division through a time of rapid and exciting change, requiring significant flexibility. You will develop your team through sharing information effectively, coaching, and through communicating a clear vision to ensure that DSID colleagues are engaged, effective and motivated to deliver the area's aims. This will include setting clear goals and stretching objectives that are aligned to those of the directorate and the wider Bank.
You will be part of the DAT Leadership Team (DAT LT), which collectively sets the directorate’s strategy and is responsible for its implementation. DAT LT has a focus on promoting the wellbeing of staff across DAT and ensuring the directorate a diverse, inclusive and empowering place to work. DAT HoDs are expected to lead by example, create opportunities and space for themselves and their divisions to contribute to the Bank’s inclusion agenda.
It is a particularly exciting time to be a HoD in DAT, given the Bank’s recently updated D&A Strategy, and DSID is central to that work. The Head of DSID will need to work with DAT’s Leadership Team, with DSID colleagues and with other stakeholders to ensure that DSID continues to work effectively with the other divisions in DAT and with key stakeholders across the Bank as we implement the D&A strategy. There are opportunities to consider how DSID works most effectively with the rest of DAT and other areas of the Bank. This may include changes to the structure and remit of DSID, which will require the successful candidate to be adaptable, flexible and able to lead others through periods of change.
