Job Responsibilities

• To deliver the existing and future new development pipeline, initially focussed on a large London based scheme (GDV c. £400m)
• To deliver a fit‑out oriented design and construction service to operators throughout the business, with budgets ranging from £100k to £30m.
• To manage a multi disciplinary team of designers, commercial and project managers
• To take the lead role within the team and sometimes wider business for core land and development knowledge (site assembly, planning, appraisal, infrastructure etc)
• Contribute to feasibility analysis of land and buildings for acquisition
• Review site constraints, survey information and third party matters in order to develop programme and cost analysis
• Work with the investment team to produce feasibilities and risk analysis
• Manage the team effectively and efficiently, finding the right balance of permanent headcount with contract and consultant staff
• Be a part of the management group, contributing to group wide initiatives as required

My client is a rapidly growing real estate business that owns and develops trophy assets in London and beyond. Having successfully completed the redevelopment, regeneration and construction of a number of large‑scale assets in enviable postcodes, they continue to grow with a new major scheme. To lead the development programme we are looking for a Head of Development who can be flexible, resilient and offer leadership and advice to a number of departments.

Desired Skills and Experience

Ideally you will have experience of developments across a variety of asset classes including commercial, leisure, retail, workspace and high‑end residential. The incoming candidate will be responsible for the Development team generally, leading on commercial, design and project direction.

• Minimum 10 years experience property and development
• Experience of leading complex mixed use schemes through the acquisition, design and planning stages with a GDV of £100m+
• Hands on experience of managing JCT design and build contracts with a high level of autonomy
• Experience of managing multi disciplinary teams
• Detailed knowledge of all regulatory and statutory process affecting development including but not limited to planning, building control and CDM
