The Head of Engineering & Facilities will play a pivotal role both strategically and hands-on to lead our engineering maintenance and facilities operations. The role is responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, facility compliance, energy efficiency and the successful execution of engineering projects to support safety, efficiency, reliability and sustainability goals.

Key Accountabilities

• Provide strategic and hands-on leadership of the engineering function across the manufacturing and logistics operations, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
• Direct the end to end lifecycle of capital projects from feasibility studies and design through procurement, installation, commissioning and validation. While ensuring adherence to budget, quality, safety, and timeline goals.
• Drive innovation by integrating automation, Industry technologies and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance throughput, operational efficiency, and system reliability.
• Partner closely with cross-functional departments including HSE, FSQA, Manufacturing, Logistics, Supply Chain and Finance.
• Develop and execute reliability strategy for all critical infrastructure and assets.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs using CMMS and reliability best practices.
• Ensure optimal facility performance through energy management, sustainability initiatives, and compliance with building regulations.
• Manage external contractors, OEMs, and third-party service providers to ensure quality execution of service contracts and capital upgrades while maintaining budget discipline. Lead and report compliance with HSE regulations standards in all engineering and facility operations.
• Lead and coordinate Engineering & Facilities related audits and inspections, preparing documentation, responding to findings, and driving timely corrective and preventive actions.
• Champion a proactive safety culture through engineering controls, hazard identification, root cause analysis, and team engagement in safety programs and training.
• Collaborate with the FSQA and HSE teams to ensure all facility and equipment designs support food safety, quality, hygiene, and environmental sustainability standards.
• Lead and develop a high performing, multidisciplinary engineering & facilities and maintenance team.
• Create a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement through coaching, structured performance reviews, and personal development planning.
• Encourage cross functional collaboration and knowledge sharing to solve complex problems and implement best practices.
• Develop annual engineering and facilities budgets, including CapEx and OpEx forecasting.
• Track and report on key performance indicators.
• Identify and implement cost saving and efficiency enhancing initiatives.
• Lead the execution of the Engineering excellence program.

Skills/Experience

• Time served as an Engineer.
• Minimum HNC in a relevant Mechanical/Electrical discipline.
• Experience of working in a fast paced engineering environment (ideally FMCG) is essential.
• Strong man management and leadership qualities.
• Previous people management experience, minimum 3 years experience in an engineering management/supervisory capacity.
• Experience of CMMS utilisation and development.
• Experience of planning, co-ordinating, measuring through KPI analysis.
• Strong understanding of H&S in a manufacturing environment.
• Awareness of modern maintenance techniques.
• Good communication and presentation skills.
