Head of Environmental, Health and Safety

We’re recruiting an experienced HSE leader to take full responsibility for Health, Safety and Environmental strategy across a growing site. This role ensures full legal compliance (including CDM Regulations 2015) while embedding a proactive safety and environmental culture aligned to operational goals.
The Role
Acting as the organisation’s competent HSE advisor, you’ll lead, implement and continuously improve HSE systems, ensuring consistent standards and best practice across all locations.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure compliance with UK HSE, Environmental legislation, RIDDOR and CDM 2015
* Lead incident investigations and act as main contact for regulators and insurers
* Oversee risk assessments (COSHH, manual handling, engineering, task-based)
* Maintain core safety systems (fire, lifting, lock-off, confined space, working at height, industrial trucks)
* Support construction and engineering projects under CDM regulations
* Lead environmental compliance, sustainability and waste initiatives
* Manage emergency preparedness and trained safety representatives
* Deliver HSE training and chair safety meetings
* Control HSE budgets and report on performance metrics
* Develop and govern HSE policies and procedures
About You
* Senior HSE experience within a highly regulated or industrial environment
* Strong knowledge of UK legislation and CDM 2015
* Proven track record embedding safety culture across sites
* Confident leader with strong communication and organisational skills
