Overview The Head of Finance Ops, Treasury and Transformation will lead the Operational Finance, Transformation and Treasury functions for the new standalone company (BPL New Co), owning regulatory safeguarding and cash management processes. Responsibilities Drive the strategic and operational set‑up of the finance team to support BPL (New Co). Set up Operational finance and treasury support, implementing safeguarding processes. Oversee wider liquidity and cash management and optimisation for the organisation and broader capital management. Own all finance‑related change activity, collaborating with product and tech teams to create automated, efficient processes across the department—leveraging best‑practice concepts and supporting options analysis and recommendations as part of decision making. Design conceptual data models underpinning all phases of the processes and governance requirements according to GDMS standards and principles. Develop end‑to‑end process and controls design/documentation, operational runbooks, aligning these components with organisational and role/service model design definitions. Support delivery and implementation: update design/functional requirements throughout the development cycle, resolve RAIDS related to functional requirements and business processes, and manage project change programmes that have limited technology investment. Develop functional testing scripts and data to test alignment to requirement definitions ahead of user testing cycles. Accountabilities Develop overall strategic direction for finance, implementing up‑to‑date methodologies and processes. Manage the finance department, overseeing finance colleagues’ performance, departmental goals, financial planning, budgeting and forecasting. Maintain relationships with finance stakeholders, identify relevant stakeholders, and represent the organisation’s financial position and performance. Identify opportunities and implement financial process improvements that streamline operations, in partnership with the transformation function. Manage finance risk, including identification, assessment and mitigation, and maintain alignment between finance and compliance functions. Monitor accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting and oversee preparation and filing of reports with regulatory bodies and investors. Monitor the department’s financial performance, including revenue, profitability and cost control. Director Expectations Provide significant input to function‑wide strategic initiatives and contribute to policy and procedure development for the function. Lead organisation‑wide projects, act as a deep technical expert and thought leader, identify new ways of working and cross‑functional collaboration, train and coach less experienced specialists. Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees, influencing decisions made outside the function. Manage resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub‑function. Escalate breaches of policies and procedures appropriately. Foster and guide compliance, ensuring regulations are observed and relevant processes are in place. Focus on the external environment, regulators and advocacy groups to monitor and influence on behalf of the organisation when appropriate. Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline, with up‑to‑date sector knowledge. Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in complex or sensitive situations. Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and recommend within own area. Negotiate and influence stakeholders at a senior level, both internally and externally. Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions or divisions. Serve as a spokesperson for the function and business division.
