As a trusted leader, you will lead and develop a finance team in the UK. You will foster a culture of collaboration, motivation and high‑performance and will inspire the finance function to deliver accurate, timely, and insightful reporting to support decision‑making.

Package: £85k base salary + 10% bonus.

Full‑time, permanent.

Reporting to: Chief Financial Officer.

Base: London, UK with hybrid working.

You will take ownership of finance operations, management accounts and financial reporting. You will lead day‑to‑day finance operations including P2P, O2C, VAT and tax compliance, cash flow management and covenant compliance. You will seek out process improvements and maintain robust financial controls. You will lead the management accounting process ensuring the timely closure and consolidation of month‑, quarter‑ and year‑end. You will work closely with the French finance team helping them to embed standardised processes and controls and deliver a smooth close. You will lead the end‑to‑end interim review and year‑end audit processes and be comfortable with interpreting technical accounting standards and applying these to Tortilla. You will oversee the annual insurance renewal process.

As the Head of Group Financial Control & Reporting, you are a senior leader within the business and will be dealing with senior internal stakeholders as well as external parties such as auditors, HMRC, banks, tax advisors and insurance companies. You are expected to build strong working relationships both internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the P2P/O2C manager and team to ensure timely and accurate recording of transactions, purchase invoices matched off, payments to suppliers are made, and billing and cash collection is well controlled to minimise working capital.
  • Own the personal expenses system, our controls for expenses and the travel & expense policy.
  • Approve UK payroll.
  • Own VAT compliance including the VAT treatment of menu items in our sales systems.
  • Ensure tax compliance requirements, including submissions to HMRC.
  • Monitor and maintain internal controls and the risk management framework.
  • Develop, embed and maintain a robust process for monitoring balance sheet reconciliations performed by the wider finance team across the whole Group.
  • Oversee and review monthly, quarterly and annual closing and reports for UK, and French entities including inter‑company transfer pricing and Group consolidation.
  • Lead the annual and interim audit process, managing the relationship with external auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient audit process.
  • Oversee the preparation of consolidated financial statements for the Group and timely completion of statutory financial statements for UK subsidiaries, ensuring legal filings are made on time.
  • Ensure effective cash‑flow management, optimising financial resource to support operational needs, and ensure compliance with and reporting on bank covenants.
  • Own insurance relationships, insurance renewal and any insurance claims.
  • Collaborate with the Head of FP&A to ensure reconciliation between statutory and management accounts.
  • Drive continuous process and controls improvements by automation and system enhancements.

Key Skills, Competencies and Experience

  • Qualified accountant (e.g. ACA/ACCA or similar) with +6 years of progressive experience in management and financial accounting and reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS, with proven technical accounting and statutory reporting skills.
  • Experience of working in an international business with different cultures as well as foreign currency transactions.
  • Proven experience of managing the month‑end process.
  • Strong understanding of finance processes and internal controls.
  • Ability to deliver to strict deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proactive and hands‑on attitude.
  • Ideally multi‑site experience from the hospitality or retail industry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of building and developing high‑performing teams.
  • Resilient under pressure with ability to maintain high attention to detail while working at pace under pressure.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (experience of SAGE a plus).
