PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: Up to £130,000 plus LW depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Head of Internal Audit will be responsible for developing and leading a large portfolio of audit activity, ensuring that Internal Audit operates in line with best practice and provides impactful assurance. The Head of Internal Audit will be a trusted advisor to executive level stakeholders in the BBC.
The BBC operates a large and complex technology infrastructure, to create and distribute its content. It is also going through a period of significant organisational change. We are particularly interested in candidates with demonstrable experience of auditing technology platforms, digital products and major transformation programmes.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
Key responsibilities and accountabilities will include:
- Leading the component Audit & Assurance strategy and end to end activity for a given business area, leading a large portfolio of audits to agreed performance standards, allocating and directing resource as appropriate, and using insight and knowledge to provide timely and impactful assurance.
- Using expert knowledge and experience to guide and influence senior management on assurance priorities and outcomes, and representing the Audit and assurance team at senior governance forums e.g. Divisional Risk Committee, Operations Committees or similar, and Steering Groups.
- Commissioning, and overseeing the performance of, third party providers and managing an external spend budget.
- Managing a team of professionally qualified and experienced audit and assurance staff and leading a culture of high performance.
- Supporting the Director of Internal Audit in developing and delivering the Audit & Assurance strategy, ensuring continuous alignment to BBC requirements and objectives, and drawing on deep expertise in audit to bring leading industry and technical practices to the BBC.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Track record of developing audit teams and overseeing the delivery of audit plans in large organisations.
- Demonstrate a track record of conducting and managing a broad range of internal audits across multiple domains (financial, operational, compliance, IT, change etc).
- Possess relevant professional credentials, such as IIA, CISA, ACA, CIMA.
- Hold deep technical expertise and knowledge leadership in internal audit and assurance practice across multiple audit domains.
- Have a high level of digital and IT awareness, sufficient to support the ongoing automation of audit practice and the adoption of leading-edge technology.
- Possess credible and articulate communication skills to explain complex situations clearly, deal with debate and push back and present solutions and improvements.
DESIRABLE:
- Have working knowledge of regulation and the TMT sector.
