The Mission

You will be the founding leader tasked with building and scaling a cutting-edge, AI-driven power trading capability across Europe from zero to one. This is a strategically critical, high-impact role where you will define the commercial playbook and establish the team that will maximize the value of a significant and growing portfolio of renewable and storage assets. Your work will directly shape the company's success in the European market.

Key Responsibilities

• Build the Function: Architect and establish the entire European power market trading desk. Develop the foundational strategy, processes, risk frameworks, and technology roadmap.
• Lead the Team: Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-caliber, multi-disciplinary team encompassing quantitative analysis, data science, market strategy, and trade execution.
• Develop the AI Edge: Spearhead the development and deployment of a proprietary AI/ML trading platform. Leverage and adapt advanced global models to master the complexity of European power markets (e.g., spot, intraday, balancing, capacity, and Guarantees of Origin).
• Drive P&L: Design and execute sophisticated trading and hedging strategies to optimize revenue across a diversified asset portfolio. Assume full commercial responsibility for trading performance.
• Navigate the Landscape: Serve as the company's key expert on European power markets. Engage with exchanges, regulators, counterparties, and offtakers to build a robust market presence.
• Ensure Integrity: Implement and oversee rigorous risk management and compliance protocols, ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations (e.g., REMIT).

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Proven Builder: A track record of successfully building, scaling, and leading a power trading or advanced commercial function within Europe, ideally within a renewable IPP, utility, trading house, or a highly innovative energy venture.
• Deep Market Expertise: Intimate, hands-on knowledge of the structures, rules, and participants of key European power markets (such as Germany, UK, Nordics). Expertise in optimizing renewable and storage assets is highly preferred.
• AI/Quantitative Visionary: A strong passion for and practical experience in applying data science, machine learning, and advanced analytics to solve commercial optimization problems in energy. Ability to bridge the gap between quantitative models and commercial trading decisions.
• Executive Presence: Outstanding leadership and communication skills. Ability to operate strategically at the CEO/Board level, articulate complex concepts clearly, and inspire a world-class team.
