Here at Contek, we are working with our client is a fast growing Birmingham based live events production company delivering high end technical solutions across lighting, audio, video and full show design. They support a wide range of high profile productions including stadium events, arena touring, comedy and live music shows, festivals, broadcast work and corporate events. From large scale live environments to touring productions, they deliver technically polished, show ready results every time. Now they are looking for someone to lead lighting prep and take full ownership of what leaves the warehouse. The Role | Head of Lighting
This is a hands on leadership position for someone who knows lighting inside out and takes pride in sending out flawless kit. You will be responsible for ensuring every fixture, desk and cable leaving the building is built, tested, labelled, compliant and show ready. Working closely with the Managing Director and Warehouse Manager, you will help drive standards, organisation and technical accuracy across all prep work. What You Will Be Doing
Lighting and Technical Oversight
Oversee prep of lighting fixtures, consoles, rigging and cabling Ensure all equipment is tested, patched and show ready Support prep for touring productions and fixed installs Interpret build specifications and ensure accuracy before dispatch
Team Coordination
Work alongside warehouse technicians and freelancers Schedule and prioritise prep around production timelines Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support
Quality and Compliance
Maintain high safety standards Ensure equipment meets client specifications and industry regulations Sign off completed prep work and maintain accurate records
Documentation and Planning
Read and interpret CAD drawings, patch lists and wiring diagramsCommunicate technical plans clearly to the team Keep prep documentation organised and up to date
What They Are Looking For
Minimum 3 years experience in live events lighting or production Strong knowledge of fixtures, consoles, rigging and event prep workflows Experience preparing equipment for large scale productions preferred Flexible to work evenings, weekends or travel when required Full UK driving licence desirable
