Opportunity for a Head of Non-Financial Risk with a Global Reinsurer/Specialty Insurer within Lloyd's Market.


You will lead the implementation and embedding of the Non-Financial Risk (NFR) framework, ensuring effective identification, assessment and management of non-financial risks in line with the ERM framework, strategic objectives and regulatory requirements. Oversee supporting tools and systems (e.g., GRC platforms).


Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and report non-financial risk exposures and controls to senior management and governing bodies, ensuring regulatory compliance (PRA, FCA, Lloyd’s).
  • Provide timely risk advice, challenge and opinions on strategic initiatives, change programmes and new products.
  • Support development and embedding of risk appetite metrics, emerging risk assessment and scenario analysis.
  • Build strong relationships across the business and develop subject-matter expertise in key areas.
  • Report the overall non-financial risk profile, including exposure levels, control effectiveness and key incidents.
  • Contribute to ORSA production and risk reporting to senior committees and the Board.
  • Participate in governance forums and escalate material risks as needed; deputise for the Head of ERM in external interactions.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Risk & Compliance, Internal Audit and other functions to ensure comprehensive oversight.
  • Maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and external advisers.
  • Support risk training and awareness to strengthen risk culture.
  • Drive best practice in identifying and assessing non-financial risks and controls.
  • Support change initiatives and enhancements to the Legal, Risk & Compliance operating model.
  • Lead and develop team members as applicable.


Knowledge and Skills

  • Relevant risk qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong insurance knowledge; UK and Lloyd’s market experience desirable.
  • Solid understanding of the risk management environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to challenge constructively.
  • Change-oriented mindset with experience leading teams through change.
  • Excellent report writing and Board-level communication skills.
  • High accuracy, attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Degree and/or relevant professional qualification.
