Head of Physical Education – Subject Leadership

VNA Education is working in partnership with a rapidly improving secondary school to appoint an exceptional Head of PE to lead a popular, high-profile department with strong student engagement and successful extra-curricular provision.

This is a key leadership opportunity for an ambitious PE specialist ready to drive curriculum quality, raise outcomes and develop a high-performing team, while championing physical education, sport and wellbeing across the school

The Role

* Provide strategic and operational leadership for PE across KS3 and KS4

* Lead curriculum design, sequencing and assessment to ensure excellent progress for all students

* Drive consistently high standards of teaching, learning and behaviour

* Use data and evaluation to identify underachievement and secure improvement

* Lead, coach and develop staff, embedding a reflective, high-expectations culture

* Oversee and develop a strong extra-curricular and competitive sports programme

* Promote PE’s contribution to attendance, wellbeing, character and aspiration

The ideal candidate

* Qualified teacher (QTS) with strong PE subject expertise

* Has proven or emerging subject leadership experience

* Demonstrates a deep understanding of curriculum, assessment and pedagogy in PE

* Is an effective people leader, able to motivate, challenge and support colleagues

* Sets high expectations for students and staff alike

* Is committed to inclusive practice, safeguarding and student development
