Head of Pricing for a major managing agency - new role

Our client has laid significant ground work to start a 2-3 year pricing transformation journey for their operations, which comprise of a managing agency with two wholly owned syndicates. As part of this journey, they have created a new role for a Head of Pricing, to cover all syndicates under management. The role will see you inherit a small pricing staff, with the remit to 1) expand the team and 2) implement a modern, web based pricing platform.

What does success in the first six months look like? You will need to have met with the management team and all major stakeholders, including senior underwriters, with the aim of understanding the pricing processes as well as the business lines. You will have produced a clear pricing team strategy, using your professional judgment as well as lean ing on some ground work done by external actuarial consultants. Working with the support of the management team and Chief Actuary, you will have gained approval to start recruiting for some more pricing staff, and also started to pilot some pricing platforms, with the objective of starting to migrate the Excel-based pricing models to deploy into production.
