Head of Private Client / Senior Private Client Solicitor

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Private Client Solicitor to step into a Head of Department / senior leadership role within a well-regarded and expanding law firm.

This role would suit a senior fee earner who is already leading a team, or an ambitious Private Client specialist ready to take the next step into departmental leadership.

The Role:

You will take overall responsibility for the management, development and strategic growth of the Private Client department, while maintaining a high-quality caseload. Responsibilities will include:

• Leading and mentoring a team of solicitors, legal executives and support staff

• Overseeing complex private client matters, including high-value estates and trusts

• Handling advanced wills, estate planning and IHT mitigation

• Managing probate matters, including taxable estates

• Advising on trusts, Court of Protection and succession planning

• Driving business development and strengthening referral networks

• Contributing to firm-wide strategy alongside senior management

• Ensuring compliance, risk management and service excellence

The Ideal Candidate:

• Senior Private Client Solicitor or Legal Executive

• Strong technical expertise across private client work

• Proven leadership or supervisory experience (or readiness to step up)

• Commercially minded with a client-focused approach

• Confident in business development and relationship management

• STEP membership or working towards (desirable)
