About the role:

The Head of Public Fundraising (Interim) will oversee a team of 13 across UK offices, leading efforts in individual giving, legacy, community, and events fundraising. The role involves strategic development, especially around growing legacy income and diversifying community engagement, with a focus on implementing a new strategy due in October 2025.

You will manage the execution of Concern Worldwide UK’s fundraising and supporter engagement strategies, including donor recruitment and retention, community activities, and legacy programs, aiming for high-quality donor experiences and income growth. You will ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards, safeguarding the organization’s reputation. The current income target is £5.5M with a budget of £2.4M for FY2025.

About You:

Essential Experience:

• Broad experience in donor recruitment techniques (face-to-face, direct mail, digital)
• Strong understanding of donor engagement strategies
• Experience in community and public events fundraising
• Proven track record of increasing fundraising income
• Experience managing multiple teams and developing strategies and budgets
• Data analysis skills, including ROI and lifetime value metrics
• Experience managing external suppliers and contracts

Knowledge and Skills:

• In-depth knowledge of UK public fundraising techniques
• Creative and proactive in strategy development
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Knowledge of legal/regulatory environment (Fundraising Regulator, Data Protection, Gift Aid)
