Head of Risk - Selby Jennings

Selby Jennings is partnering with a London Market insurer to support the expansion of their Risk function. The Risk team is growing to meet evolving business needs and deliver on a target operating model. As part of this growth, we are seeking a Head of Risk to shape the future of the risk function and gain exposure across the business, playing a critical role in embedding risk management into strategy and planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of the risk management framework, including risk appetite, policies, and procedures.
  • Oversee monitoring and reporting processes to ensure compliance and effective risk oversight.
  • Drive the development of a forward‑looking agenda for the Risk function, including team structure and functional plans.
  • Manage the Own Risk & Solvency Assessment (ORSA) process and produce required reports.
  • Build strong relationships with the first line of defence and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with Lloyd's and UK regulatory requirements.
  • Represent the Risk function internally and externally, including participation in committees and industry forums.
  • Lead, develop, and inspire the Risk team, fostering a collaborative and high‑performing culture.

Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience in Risk Management within insurance, reinsurance, or consulting.
  • Strong knowledge of Lloyd's and UK regulatory frameworks.
  • Highly analytical and numerate, with proven project management skills.
  • Demonstrated success in leadership and team management roles.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across multiple functional areas.
