Head of Service - Building Control Salary: MB2 (£71,274–£81,588, includes 20% market supplement). Contract: Permanent, full‑time, 37 hours. Location: Hybrid – Stopford House and homeworking. Your Role Lead a team of building inspectors handling projects from historic buildings to modern developments. Manage service budgets and strategies, enhancing efficiency and innovation. Identify commercial opportunities to generate additional income, supporting the service’s financial sustainability. Lead the BSR audit process and build a high‑performing, policy‑compliant team through continuous professional development and mentoring. About You BSR registered Minimum Class 2A‑F Building Inspector with extensive experience in Building Control, preferably leading a building control team in public or private sector. Strong technical knowledge of building regulations, fire safety, and emerging construction technologies. Excellent stakeholder management skills – able to work with elected members, developers, and residents. Strategic, problem‑solving mindset that drives service improvements and financial sustainability. Commercially driven to spot opportunities for fee income and cost recovery. Full UK driving licence required. Proficient with electronic plan processing, site reports, and bespoke systems.
