Head of Engineering | £140,000 to £180,000 base + meaningful equity | Series B next year


You are already running multiple engineering teams and the next obvious step is owning the function.


This role is that step, at a Series A AI company on a strong upward trajectory.


What it is

Full operational ownership of engineering at a company that will triple in size during your tenure. Org design, hiring, delivery, process, and engineering culture across London, New York and Singapore.


The org you inherit will scale from current size toward 100+.


What it is not

A CTO seat in disguise, a delivery role with a more flattering title, or a stepping stone to CTO in 18 months.


The CTO has run engineering himself to this point and is hiring the operational partner he wants for the next phase. He keeps technical direction and architecture.


The CTO you will partner with

Ex-quant, ex-Wise pre-IPO, founded and exited two companies, now investing first cheques into applied AI alongside running engineering here. Direct, technically deep, low ego, and a genuine thought leader in the space.


The wider founding team includes a CPO with 17 years in institutional real estate and a CEO with a Stanford PhD and a CPTO background at a Series A fintech.


The engineering team you inherit includes alumni of GRAIL, Tractable, Hadean and Babylon Health.

The product

The firms that finance the built world spend their days inside documents. Lease portfolios running to thousands of pages. Data rooms worth hundreds of millions. IC papers that have to be right, cited, and auditable.


This platform turns all of it into structured intelligence investment teams trust. One PE firm with £1.5bn AUM went from days to 30 minutes on an IC paper.


Multiple foundation models running in parallel with automatic failover. A proprietary embedding model outperforming OpenAI and Google on domain-specific retrieval. 98.5% accuracy through evaluation-driven development. Agentic workflows in production, not prototyped.


ARR up 6x last year. Series B next year.


Who you are

  • SSEM, Head of, Director or VP in a product-led tech company, not a consultancy
  • Scaled an engineering org in an early-stage environment, ideally toward 100+
  • Hired and fired people, not observed it. Performance management is a strength
  • A current point of view on AI-assisted development and where it is heading
  • Familiar with evaluation-driven development and probabilistic outputs

Tech stack: Python, FastAPI, GCP, React, TypeScript.
