Overview
University of the Arts London (UAL) is seeking to appoint a Head of Technical FM Services who will be responsible for the Engineering Infrastructure, technical delivery and compliance of all UAL campus buildings and to ensure compliance with all statutory and technical requirements. The role offers the opportunity to shape the future of our built environment while supporting world-leading education in the creative arts.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of professionals in delivering planned and reactive maintenance, long-term asset management, and capital project support.
- Ensure all statutory and regulatory requirements are met across UAL’s estate.
- Drive service excellence, innovation, and sustainability to ensure facilities meet the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and performance.
Qualifications
- Substantial post-qualification experience in managing technical FM services (in-house and outsourced) and long-term maintenance planning.
- Strong technical background, educated to HNC level or equivalent in electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and fire safety systems.
- Hands-on knowledge of critical power infrastructure including UPS, generators, and CHP systems.
- Experience applying Health & Safety principles; ideally supported by NEBOSH or an equivalent certification.
- Familiarity with regulations such as CDM, L8, and asbestos management.
