Job Description
Jackson Hogg are proudly supporting a specialist manufacturing business in the County Durham area on a Health & Safety Advisor position.\n\nHealth and Safety & Facilities Advisor Responsibilities\n\n * Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards across our manufacturing facilities, ensuring compliance with UK legislation\n\n * ·Ensure that any reportable injuries or incidents are reported to the appropriate authorities (for example, HSE under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR)\n\n * Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with current UK legislation and industry best practices\n\n * Deliver engaging safety training sessions and inductions for employees and contractors including fire safety drills.\n\n * Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses, produce detailed reports, identify root cause and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence\n\n * Maintain accurate records of inspections, safety documentation, and training compliance\n\n * Monitor and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety equipment\n\n * Liaise with regulatory bodies and manage relationship with external health and safety organisations and consultants\n\n * Support the achievement and maintenance of relevant ISO certifications\n\n * Oversea the day-to-day operation and maintenance of building infrastructure, equipment, and systems\n\n * Coordinate with contractors and suppliers for maintenance, repairs, and facility improvements\n\n * Manage planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules for critical building systems including HVAC, electrical, fire alarms, and mechanical systems\n\n * Ensure facilities meet operational requirements to support our manufacturing operations\n\n * Monitor and control facilities related costs and budgets\n\n * Support space planning and workplace layout optimisation\n\n * Manage waste disposal and environmental compliance activities\n\nHealth and Safety & Facilities Advisor Requirements\n\n * NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent qualification\n\n * Working knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems\n\n * Strong working knowledge of current UK health and safety legislation, regulations and best practices\n\n * Confident and competent in conducting risk assessments and implementing control measures\n\n * Managing relationships with external contractors, including tendering for services (for example cleaning, security), negotiating contracts, approving RAMS (risk assessment method statement), issuing permits to work and supervising their work\n\n * Full UK driving licence and able to travel to other sites as and when required
