Location: Stevenage
Salary: £28,000 – £45,000 per annum (Depending on Experience)
About the Role:
We’re looking for a committed and knowledgeable Health & Safety Officer to take ownership of all aspects of workplace safety and regulatory compliance across our operations. In this pivotal role, you’ll champion a culture of safety, lead proactive risk management, and ensure the wellbeing of all employees. Whether you're assessing on-site hazards, leading training, or shaping safety strategy, your work will directly impact the health and resilience of our teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Policy Development & Implementation:
Design, implement, and continually improve health and safety policies, ensuring alignment with legislation and industry best practice.
* Risk Assessment & Mitigation:
Identify workplace hazards through thorough risk assessments, analysing severity and likelihood to establish appropriate control measures.
* Training & Awareness:
Deliver engaging training sessions and toolbox talks to promote safe working practices and ensure effective use of PPE.
* Workplace Monitoring & Audits:
Conduct routine safety inspections and audits, reporting findings and ensuring prompt resolution of any issues.
* Incident Investigation:
Lead detailed investigations into accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
* Regulatory Compliance:
Stay up-to-date with UK health and safety legislation and ensure ongoing organisational compliance across all relevant areas.
* Emergency Preparedness:
Develop and test emergency response procedures, including fire drills, evacuation plans, and first aid coordination.
* Reporting & Recordkeeping:
Maintain comprehensive safety documentation, including inspection logs, incident reports, and training records for audit and performance analysis.
About You:
* NEBOSH or IOSH certification (or working toward it)
* Strong understanding of UK H&S regulations and best practices
* Excellent communication skills and confidence in delivering training
* Analytical mindset with great attention to detail
* Prior experience in construction, manufacturing, or similar industries advantageous
