We’re looking for a Health and Safety Business Partner to help us make a difference to our planet.
Asour Health and Safety Business Partner, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home.This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.
Our opportunity is full time, 37 hours per week, but we would also consider applicants wishing to work a minimum of 30 hours per week and we will also try our best to consider those intending to work a jobshare. Please note the role holders will need to travel to multiple sites as part of the role.

Your world of expertise
You will have a significant impact on the Met Office. Our Health and Safety Business Partner role will support and drive the long-term Health and Safety strategic improvement plan.
Working frequently on-site in this key role, you will provide impact across the Met Office and all 2,000 plus employees and contractors. You will influence the building of our health and safety culture and drive the improvement of our organisational health and safety risk management.
- Responsible for managing and developing the Met Offices Safety Management System (SMS).
- Ensuring compliance with legislation and Met Office standards.
- Leading, coaching and providing expert advice andsupportto their areas of business partneringsupport.
- Promote and foster a positive safety culture throughout their areas of responsibility insupportof the health and safety improvement programme.
- Identifying opportunities for improvement within their allocated area of responsibility across multiple business units within the Met Office, and for delivery of projects under the improvement plan.

As our Health & Safety Business Partner, your total reward package will be up to £58,419 annually, which includes:
- An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 28.97%.
- Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave.
Essential Criteria,skillsand experience:
- Keep evolving – Graduate Membership of IOSH, IIRSM or equivalent professional body.
- Experience of providing specialist health and safetysupportand advise to a range of stakeholders (including trade unions), across multiple sites in a diverse work environment.
- Expert by nature – Level 5/6 Diploma (NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent) professional health and safety qualification.
- Forcefor good – Proven health and safety experience within a complex organisation.
- Live and breathe it – Personal authority and credibility, with the ability to gain and maintain trust and confidence to stakeholders at all levels.
